About Me

Hello! My name is Ben Kaiser, I'm the man of this "Don't Wear Jorts" Blog.

Ben Kaiser
Ben Kaiser, Idiot in room chair.  Age 21.

Here's a little bit about me.

Blog

This blog will be a filler in my free time, I have many "articles" planned, though they will most likely be released very slowly.  My plans for this blog aren't set in stone, though it will most likely consist of random topics that intrigue me and topics I think others can find useful, neat or just interesting.  Blog started 12/23/2019.

Art

I am a 22 year old self taught artist working in mostly in 3d, my work typically revolves around the software Blender.  I have played around most arts, the list includes; drawing, game design, drawing, graphic design, architecture, photography, web design, fashion, sculpting and limited knowledge of wood working.  I am currently diving deeper in to architecture, using Blender and Twin Motion.  (I know I know who the fuck uses a non CAD software for architecture. . . apparently me)

How I think

In general I like to thing I have different and intriguing points of view on life and how things work.  I am an open minded and fairly creative, though I try to be as logical as possible.
My main goal is to make, design and create things that others find enjoyably, efficient, and useful.  I'd like my work to help people around me physically and mentally, so that they and myself can be as healthy and productive as possible.

My mini history

I grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago Illinois, with my mom (Trish), dad (Fred) and older sister (Corryn). We had a grey hound and I nice plump cat.
I went to elementary school, then middle school and then high school.  Then fucked up college.
When I was younger I played soccer, wrestled, tennis and ended my sportsmanship in ski jumping.  I did ski jumping for nine years, traveled the world on the U.S. junior national ski jumping team and was at one point top 22 in the country.  I was on track to be somebody, though my lack of money and motivation was a problem.  I ended up quitting in the fall of 2018.
Now I'm just trying to figure things out, like everyone else.  My hope as of now is to design houses and blog about whatever the hell I want, It's my blog :)

Currently

I am working as security full time, and interning at a data company as a "project manager".  Just trying to find myself and stay healthy.  I have a schedule, that is followed loosely and I try to set daily goals.  My free time currently consists of; Reading, blogging/writing, slack lining, biking, video games, "boxing", self development and online learning.

Getting started with Blender

New to Blender?  No problem. The bare bones. Blender is a very hard, but at the same time a very easy software.  It takes a while to learn the key mapping, but for the most part the interface is straight forward and blender has a strong community.      Doughnut tutorial:   This tutorial is widely known in the blender community and for a good reason.  It goes over the majority of base principles used in 3d.  You can find other renders of other newbies and pros all over the internet, look it up and see how you compare to others!      Hot keys:   Hot keys are very necessary in most software, but blender, you shouldn't even use it if you can figure them out. . .  To me the most necessary keys are:      - SHIFT + A  pulls up the object list.  Add cubes, lights curves etc. . . all from this menu      - N  Properties      - T...
